Hey everyone!
I’m relatively new to the hiking world and recently stumbled upon something I thought was pretty cool, but I couldn’t find much discussion about it. Has anyone ever experimented with customizing their hiking shoes for specific trails or terrain types? I know there are tons of options for boots and shoes out there, but I’m curious about whether people actually modify them after purchase.
For instance, has anyone tried adding specific types of soles for better traction in muddy areas or perhaps modifying the upper part for better ventilation in hotter climates? Are there any tips or tricks on what materials work best for these kinds of DIY projects, or is this a total no-go in the hiking community?
I’m super curious to hear if anyone has ventured into this sort of customizable gear territory or if there are other unique ways people have adapted their shoes for optimal performance on particular trails.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
