Hey everyone! I’m super excited to dive into the world of ultralight trekking and looking for some advice from all you experienced hikers out there. I’ve recently started researching ultralight gear and stumbled upon an interesting concept that I haven’t seen much discussion about: gear modularity.
The idea is to have a base set of ultralight items that can be adapted or expanded depending on the trip conditions without starting from scratch each time. For example, having a versatile sleep system that works for different temperature ranges with just a few add-ons, or a backpack that adjusts its volume based on what you need for shorter vs. longer trips.
I’m curious if anyone here has experience or tips on creating such a modular system. What core items do you recommend starting with, and how do you adapt or expand them for different environments or trip durations? Are there specific brands that excel at creating versatile gear like this?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully getting some ideas on building my own adaptable kit! Thanks in advance! 🏞️🏕️🛶
