I’ve taken the Magellan Pro out on a few soggy Sierra treks with river hops, and it packs down smaller than my old Stohlquist Edge-seriously, that thing’s like wearing a deflated whoopee cushion. Held up fine against brush scratches, but I baby the CO2 cartridge with a silica packet in humid spots; no corrosion issues after two seasons. For pure reliability in sketchy crossings, the auto-inflate saved my bacon once when I flipped mid-paddle. If you’re bushwhacking heavy, though, the Edge’s foam feels tougher long-term-just bulkier to haul. Worth the sub-1kg trade-off? Absolutely for extended hauls.
