Has anyone tried Avery hunting gear for rugged hikes? I just stumbled on their Adrenaline Gear line during a gear swap meet, and holy cow, it’s revolutionized my off-trail adventures!
Picked up the Avery Pro-Grade vest - it’s billed for hunters, but the MOLLE webbing and massive cargo pockets are perfect for stuffing topo maps, water filter, first aid kit, and even my binoculars without a bulky pack. Wore it on a 15-mile scramble through thorny brush last weekend, and it held up like a champ - no snags, super breathable, and the DWR coating shed rain like nothing. Weighs under 2 lbs loaded!
Also snagged their Quick-Set blind stakes repurposed as ultralight trekking poles (cut ’em down and added foam grips). Saved me 8 oz over my old ones and they’re bombproof on loose scree.
If you’re into stealthy wildlife spotting or gear-minimalist hikes, this stuff is gold. Who’s got experience adapting hunting kit for trails? Pics or field reports welcome - I’m hooked and wanna mod more! 🚀
