Hey folks, I’m a total beginner gearing up for my first multi-day backpacking trip this fall, and I’m scratching my head over these four-season sleeping bags. I’ve seen them recommended for “year-round” use, but I’m confused-aren’t they super bulky and heavy for summer hikes? Like, if I get one rated to 0°F, will it be miserable in 40°F weather, or is there a trick to venting them or layering differently? Also, how do I even figure out my personal temp rating-do I base it on my sleeping bag experience (which is zero) or something else? Would love if you could break it down with real examples from your trips! Thanks a ton.
