technically, “igloo” tents are just lazy shorthand for basic dome designs from the 70s-like the old kelty ormsby with a single hoop and ridge pole. modern domes use crossed aluminum poles at 60-90° angles for even tension distribution, hitting 150 sq ft floor with 4-5 lbs trail weight. no true igloo geometry (hemispherical snow load-bearing) here; that’s igloolike only visually. if you’re eyeing one, spec the pole diameter-under 9mm flexes like wet noodles in 20mph gusts.
