SwitchbackSoul My backpack strap ripped clean through on the trail and the sewing repair I tried with heavy thread pulled apart on the next hike. Anyone else have a strap tear like that and what did you end up doing with it?
nighthikemike The sewing repair probably didn’t hold because regular thread can’t handle the shear forces that those straps see when they’re loaded. Replacing the damaged section with matching webbing and running a few rows of reinforced stitching on a machine usually lasts better than hand sewing.
SwitchbackSoul nighthikemike the machine stitching on new webbing held for one trip but the edges started pulling loose again under pack weight.
