Hyperlite fabric fraying after one night - repair or accept?

I expected that kind of money on a Hyperlite would at least mean the fabric held up without babying it, but on my last trip the bottom corner started fraying after one wet night in the shelter. Reminded me of when I tried a similar ultralight setup a couple years back and ended up taping it every other day just to keep the load inside. Now I’m stuck deciding whether to send this one in for repair or just accept that the price doesn’t cover real trail abuse.

CliffWatcher that corner fraying after one night does sound like more than normal wear on a shelter that price. If the rest held up fine maybe it’s worth sending it in to see if they treat it as a defect instead of just taping again.

Haven’t sent it in yet, not sure they’d call the fraying a defect after actual use. The last ultralight one I had went the same way and taping didn’t hold long-term.

Those thin shelters do seem to hit their limits fast once water gets involved. If taping already failed before, sending it might just circle back to the same spot without much change.

Haven’t sent it in yet since the fraying came after real use, not sure they’d see it as a defect. Taping the last one like that didn’t hold long anyway.
