Do you test new gear before a big hike?

I grabbed a new 65L pack with an internal frame and adjustable torso length, then ran it on a 12-mile out-and-back with 3500 feet of gain. The hip belt stayed put on the descents but the shoulder straps dug in after hour four compared to my older 60L model with the same volume rating.

The 65L frame might be pushing more weight onto the shoulders once fatigue sets in, even with the same rated volume as your 60L. Try dropping the hip belt a half inch and re-centering the load before the next long descent.

Tried dropping the hip belt half an inch and re-centering before the descent, but the straps dug in after hour four just like before.
