Rain shell cuffs wicking water in wind – layering issue?

The cuffs on my rain shell started wicking water inward during a sideways gust on the ridge. I had checked the seams beforehand and they looked sound, but the fabric around the wrists just didn’t shed it the way I counted on. Now the whole layering setup underneath feels unreliable for these quick UK changes.

That cuff wicking is a real pain when the wind picks up like that. What brand made the shell, and have you tried reaching out about their fabric treatment?

The fabric around cuffs wears its protection down quickest from all the flexing and contact, so a quick reapplication there can sometimes restore the shed without needing a full re-proof.

It’s an older no-name shell I got years back, never reached out on the treatment. The cuff wear quietpath mentioned tracks with how much those wrists get flexed on ridges.
