Why did my water filter clog after four days?

Sediment always turns a quick stop into a half-hour ordeal, especially if the filter doesn’t have much tolerance for it. What brand was the first one, and do they even sell replacement cartridges or pre-filter attachments? Some outfits make it way too easy to just buy a whole new unit instead.
