So here’s the burning question of the day: Has anyone tried these so-called ultralight trekking poles yet? I mean, if my hiking gear was a contestant on a weight-loss reality show, I’d be out the door already, right? Apparently, these miracle poles are supposed to make my pack lighter than my last three diets combined. But seriously—are they really sturdy, or am I just signing up for a slapstick comedy show when they inevitably collapse mid-ascent? Any brand recommendations, or should I just duct tape a couple of branches together? Enlighten me, oh wise souls of the mountain trails.
